The son of a serving police officer in Lagos, one Kennedy Ogedengbe and his friend, Zacchaeus Solomon, have been arrested for allegedly conspiring and gang raping their neighbour’s 9-year old girl over a period of five years.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Igando area of Lagos where they reside and where the abuse was said to have taken place for those years.

It was gathered that the suspects conspired and had reportedly molested the victim sexually since 2014 when she was only 5 years. And the abuse was said to have continued before the matter was exposed recently.
The suspects were arrested following report of the dastardly act to the Police at Ikotun Division which made the DPO, CSP Abubakar Tsav, to order them to be brought to the station for interrogation.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the father of one of the suspects, who is still serving at Seme Border Division, attempted to subvert the prosecution of the suspects but it failed after CSP Tsav insisted that the suspects must be charged to Court in the interest of justice.

They were charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy, defilement and other related offences. The Court ordered that they should be remanded in prison custody after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, did not take their plea and denied them bail while ordering their remand in prison custody.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice. The matter was adjourned till 3rd May, 2019, when the DPP’s advice may be ready.

It was gathered that the case may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds them culpable and recommends their trial for the alleged offences.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt that the defendants may spend several years in prison if they are tried and found guilty of gang raping as it was a capital offence according to the Nigerian Law.
