President Tinubu Appoints Opeifa As MD of Nigeria Railway Corporation

Posted on January 22, 2025

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr Kayode Opeifa as the Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation.

Opeifa, a sustainable transport development consultant, is a former Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation.

As commissioner, he introduced policies that significantly improved public transport and traffic management in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre.

His contributions helped ease congestion and laid a strong foundation for the state’s rapid urban development.

He later served as Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where he continued implementing progressive policies to enhance mobility in the nation’s capital.

In his new role, Opeifa is expected to lead the modernisation of Nigeria’s railway network, a crucial component of the country’s economic growth.
