Activities at Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 2 political landscape shifted dramatically on Monday as Prince Nixon Okwara stormed the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja to pick his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form, formally declaring his bid for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Prince Okwara’s entry into the race has already generated excitement across Oshodi-Isolo, with party faithful describing his aspiration as “the people’s project” long before the official declaration.
Although a first-time aspirant for the Green Chamber, Prince Okwara is far from a newcomer to public service. He is a household name in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, widely respected for his track record in infrastructural development, community empowerment, youth advocacy, and philanthropy spanning over two decades.
The APC chieftain was accompanied to the party’s national headquarters by a formidable delegation comprising party leaders, ward executives, business associates, women groups, youth leaders, community elders, artisans, and student representatives from all six wards in the constituency.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after obtaining the form, an elated Prince Okwara said his decision to contest was “a direct response to countless calls from traders, artisans, professionals, political leaders, women groups, youths and students who are tired of representation without presence and promises without performance”.
“The journey to the Federal House has started, and it starts with the people,” Prince Nixon declared to a rousing ovation from supporters who had thronged the APC Secretariat. “This is not my ambition alone. This is our collective agreement that Oshodi-Isolo II deserves better.”
In an emphatic tone that set him apart from career politicians, Prince Okwara stated: “I am not going to Abuja to learn politics. I’m going to deliver results. Our people have suffered enough from lawmakers who disappear after elections. That era ends now”.
Grounding his aspiration in his deep roots, the philanthropist noted: “All my life, I have lived and worked in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II. I got married here, I raised my children here, I built my businesses here, and I have paid my taxes here. I know every street, every pain point, and every untapped potential in this constituency.”
Prince Okwara lamented the state of infrastructure, youth unemployment, poor drainage, and inadequate federal presence in the constituency, stressing that effective legislation and strategic lobbying would be deployed to reverse the trend. “I have seen firsthand the things that need urgent attention here. I am going to take our pain to the floor of the House and bring back laws that work, projects that speak, and empowerment that lasts,” he vowed.
Party leaders who spoke about his aspiration described Prince Okwara as “a unifier and bridge-builder” whose entrance has already re-energized the APC base in Oshodi-Isolo.
With the collection of his nomination form now complete, Prince Okwara disclosed that constituency-wide consultations and a ward-to-ward tour will commence as part of his “People First, Results Always” campaign blueprint, which prioritizes job creation, education, infrastructure, and security.
