Pro-Democracy Activist Backs Sowore’s Wife, Says No Ground For FG To Detain Him

Emeka Chibuzo Ogbonna, a Nigeria’s pro-democracy activist,  has reasoned along with Opeyemi, wife of convener of RevolutionNow Movement, Mr. Omoyele Sowore that Nigerian Government has no ground to hold to her husband who has been detained for the past one month now.

Opeyemi had appeared on a television programme in the United States where she was reportedly saying that the allegations made against her husband were baseless as the government was yet to back up the claims against him with evidence.

Speaking in support of Mrs. Sowore, Comrade Ogbonna, a leader of Agenda for New Nigeria (ANN) said that if the government truly has a case against the publisher of Sahara Reporters, an online news media, it supposed to have formally charged him to a competent court of law.

“I think what Mrs Sowore was saying concerning the attitude of the Nigerian government to the way it has trampled on the fundamental human rights of her husband is true and all right thinking person in this country must rise up to condemn this

“I see nothing the government can use to hold on to Sowore. The allegations are all baseless with no substance that can stand the rigorous test of the law.

“To us at Agenda for New Nigeria, the government has once again failed its people by this action to suppress the voice of the people which we see Sowore to have stood for. We want to urge the authority to heed to the voice of reason and release Sowore without delay,” Ogbonna said.
