A 14-year old girl, who followed her friend to a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ikorodu area of Lagos for vigil prayer, was allegedly raped by the prophet of the Church, who was supposed to minister to her during the service.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 25-year old Prophet, Adebowole Obaloluwa, sighted the victim and took her to the Church quarters while the vigil was going on and engaged her in sex romp.
However, after the dastardly act, the victim went home and told her parents what happened. The matter was reported to the Police and the Prophet, Obaloluwa, was arrested. After interrogation, the Police found him culpable.
He was later charged before the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State.
The Court did not take his plea or grant him bail over the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. C. K. Tunji-Carrena, ordered that he should be remanded in the correctional facility in Lagos pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). She adjourned the case till January 30, 2020.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Mary Ajiteru, told the Court that the prophet committed the offence on November 15, 2019, at 1.30am, at No. 1, Oduolu Street, Baiyeku Area of Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
She said that he lured the victim, who accompanied her friend to the Church, to his quarters during a prayer vigil and had sex with her.
The girl got home from the vigil and told her mother what transpired which led to the arrest and prosecution of Prophet Obaloluwa.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the defendant may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends that he should be tried for defilement.
