Ramadan Cup Turns Igando To Theatre Of War, As Final Holds Wednesday

Attention would be shirted to Igando Palace playground,, Alimosho, Lagos as Aje United Football Club and Citadel Football Club would clash in final of  Igando Ramadan Football Competition  scheduled for Wednesday, 5 June, 2019.

 To reach the final stage, Aje United defeated Sammy Football Club 1-0, while Citadel Football Club humbled FC Baggio 1-0 in the second semi final played recently.

Head coach of Citadel, Taiwo Eletu has expressed confidence in the ability of his team, boasting that Aje United would fall when both sides a clash in the final.

 He said his team are technically balanced, technically sound and professionally discipline, adding that these would help them over their opponents. He admitted that Aje United are good but he has put in place some strategies to cage their key players in the final.

“The spirits in camp right now is high. The boys are in good frame of mind and they are battle ready to teach Aje United a lesson of their lives. We are not going to be lenient with them because it is a cup final and we are poised to win the competition for the first time.

“For those who know Aje United, they should tell them to prepare for war because we are coming to them like wounded lions and we are going to be aggressive in our pattern of play throughout the encounter,” he boasted.

Aje United coach, Lanre Olojo said he is not afraid of  the empty threat of his opponents saying that ninety minutes would decide the winners. He said his boys are ready and they are good to win the trophy.

Speaking ahead of the closing ceremony, chairman Organising Committee, Prince Suleiman Gbadamosi said  that all arrangement has been concluded to stage a befitting colourful closing ceremony. He said that all the invited guests have promised to grace the grand finale.

Among the invited guests expected are the Managing Director of Evergreen Groups Limited,Chief Iyk Madu-Obi who doubles as cup donor, Elder David Akere, Honourable Adeyemi Dauda Gbadamosi, Mr Azeez Arisekola and host of others.

 In the third place match concluded recently, Sammy FC defeated FC Baggio 4-3 on penalty shootout after 3-3 at the full time.. Sammy FC went home with the sum of N20, 000, while both winners and first runners up would receive N80,000 and N50, 000 respectively.
