Rapid Industrialization Is Key To The Development Of Our Local Economy, Ekwunife Says

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), has stated that rapid industrialization is critical to the development of the economy of Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

She said this on Sunday during a tour of the facilities of BigBen Fashion and Design Company, a newly established textile production and fashion design company in Awka, Anambra State.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Ekwunife described the establishment as beneficial towards the development of the economy of the State. She commended the Chairman of the company, Mr. Benjamin Ezima for setting up such an important business venture which is bound to create job opportunities for the youths.

Ekwunife, who is the Chairman Senate committee on Science and Technology, stated that rapid industrialization is intertwined with the deployment of the right technology and innovation that guarantees business growth. She restated her stance that for the nation to break even economically, the right investment must be made in science, technology, research and development to revive the manufacturing sector and ensure that companies such as BigBen are availed the enabling environment to thrive.

The Federal Lawmaker described the venture, which is said to be capable of achieving over 1000 production of textile materials per day as crucial at this time when the Nation is in dire need of reducing its import dependency. While promising to provide the necessary assistance to the company to enable it realize its mission in the State, she donated some industrial irons to support the business.

In his reaction, the Chairman of the company, Mr. Benjamin Ezima noted that the vision behind the establishment of the firm in Anambra State was to make affordable textile products available in the State and beyond, create job opportunities and avail the youths the opportunity to become self reliant. He described the Senator as a politician who has shown that her representation is focused on addressing the yearnings of her constituents and appreciated her for her visionary leadership and impact in the society.

While appreciating Senator Ekwunife for her generous donation, Mr. Ezima assured that the company is committed to producing high standard materials that will compete favourably in the fashion market.
