A Social critic and human rights activist, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has made a passionate appeal to the political class and Nigerians to reenact the tenets, spirit and principles of June 12th as we mark the anniversary tomorrow.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ezekwueme stated that June 12th election was characterised by patriotism, nationalism, selflessness, love of the country and its citizenry in other to restore oneness, unity, peace, progress and prosperity of our country.

He said it was very unfortunate and despicable that the gain of June 12th, which symbolises unity in diversity when Nigerians voted above their ethnicity, religion, clan cleavages and voted for Abiola /Kingibe Moslem-Moslem ticket is almost lost.

“It is most pathetic and despicable that Nigerians has failed, refused and neglected to imbibe and live out the basic principle of June 12th, which is loving the country first and foremost above any other interest, which Abiola fought, lived and died for.”

“It is very unfortunate that 28 years after the annulment of the freest and fairest election, the  accomplishment of the campaign slogan of Chief MKO Abiola’s Hope 93, Farewell to poverty still remains a mirage. Nigerians are losing hope everyday instead of getting hope due to deluge of challenges facing the country and abject poverty in the midst of plenty instead of saying farewell to poverty as proposed by Chief MKO Abiola.”

“Political leaders and the citizenry should unite more than ever before to exterminate insecurity, unemployment, youth restiveness, poverty, injustices and man’s inhumanity against man, which are prevalent in the country.”
“President Buhari should out of patriotism and social justice, complete June 12th healing and reconciliation processes by immortalising the Amazon and Doyen of the annulment of June 12th struggle, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola and Pa Alfred Rewane including Professor Humphrey Nwosu, who courageously and patriotically conducted the most credible election in Nigeria.”

“It is an existential reality that when the citizenry are convinced that they have equal stakes now and in the future, they will out of patriotism and selflessness work for greater and better society and country, hence social and economic justice is ineluctable and inexorable.”
“I most passionately appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agents, political parties, politicians and stakeholders in the spirit of June 12th, to conduct the freest, fairest, credible and generally acceptable Anambra November 6th Governorship election, which will truly reflect the wishes of majority and aspiration of the electorate” Ezekwueme concluded.
