Robber Attacks Lady, Escapes With Bag In A Hotel

It was really double tragedy for a 23-year old Lawal Sadiq who robbed a lady of her bag in a popularly hotel and it turned out that the bag contained only packets condoms.

The incident happened at Valid Point Hotel located at Sangotedo in Ajah area of Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that while Sadiq was escaping, a team of operatives from Federal Special Anit-Robbery Squad, FSARS, apprehended him. The lady, Juli Ebere identified her bag and claimed that the bag also contained her phones, ATM cards and other personal effects.

The suspect was detained in the SARS office at Ikeja where he went through thoroughly investigation to determine whether he was an armed robber. It was gathered that Sadiq swore that there was no phone inside the bag as claimed because he had not removed anything there before he was arrested. The police found him culpable for conspiracy and robbery.

He was charged before the Magistrate Court at Ikeja for the alleged conspiracy, robbery. The police presented the condoms and other personal effects of the victim found inside the bag as exhibits before the court.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. B. Aigbohan did not object to his bail but urged the court to grant bail that will enable the suspect to come for trial in the interest of justice.
The presiding Magistrate granted Sadiq bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 2 March, 2018.
