Robbers Broke Shop Wall, Carted Away Food Stuff

A dare-devil armed robbers struck and broke into a shop through the wall and carted away all the food items stocked in the shop and escaped in Lagos, Nigeria.
The incident happened at 166 Egbe Road, Ejigbo where the shop is located.
According to the residents, the robbers stormed the area at about 3 in the morning with a truck and broke the wall of the shop and carted away the items found there.
The items stolen were 30 bags of rice, 40 packs of sugar, 45 gallons of vegetable oil, all valued at N2 million, property of Mrs Ifeoma Ofurum.
When the owner of the property came in the morning and discovered what happened, she went and reported to the police at Ejigbo division.
The police during investigation, discovered that the owner of the shop employed one Abubaka Musa as night guard who reportedly fled during the robbery attack.
The police then arrested Musa and charged him before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court for negligence by failing to prevent the robbery.
The 26-year old Kebbi State- born Musa was charged with conspiracy and stealing and failure to use reasonable means to prevent the crime.
He pleaded not guilty and explained he did not knew anything about it.
He said on the day the incident happened, the gang came with heavy weapons and rain was falling and he had to escape to save his life.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, he was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 23 January 2017.
