CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
It appeared that robbers no longer have regard for sacred places following the recent invasion of churches, mosques and now a High Court in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the latest was the recent invasion of the High court, Ikeja Division, Lagos by unknown robbers.
The fearless robbers reportedly went to the court, carted away a deep freezer and UPS valued at N260,000 and escaped. The judicial workers were said to be surprised how it was possible for the robbers to cart away the item despite the tight security put in place within the court premises.
The Judicial workers and management came to work in the morning only to discover that the items were missing. They reported the matter to the police who went into action to unravel it.
Police source said that one of the suspects, Mr. Shosanya Michael, was later arrested by police detectives in connection with the theft at the High court. The police alleged that Michael and others now at large went to the Court and stole the items but did not state if the items were recovered from the suspect.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the police believed that it was not only Mr. Michael that stole the items because of the weight of the freezer which could not have been carried alone by one person with the UPS.
However, he was charged before the Ikeja Magistrates court while the police were still looking for other suspects said to be at large.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi did not oppose his bail.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat granted Michael bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 27th July, 2018.
