Robbers Invade House, Cart Away Over N44m Properties At Gun Point

Police operatives from Commissioner of Police Tactical Squad have arrested one of the suspected armed robbers, Nwonu Douglass, who allegedly invaded a house at gun point and stole over N60m belonging to the victim, Oke Oyesola Olufemi, in Lagos State.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Douglass and others now at large conspired and invaded the victim’s house on 2nd June, 2025 and stole items including cash and Toyota Corolla Car during the robbery operation.

 

The incident happened at No. 3, Itafa Street, Maya, Ikorodu Lagos, where the complainant resides.

 

The matter was reported to the Police, who moved into action, eventually arrested Douglass and detained him at the Command in Ikeja for interrogation over the incident.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable for conspiracy and armed robbery under the Criminal law of the State.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Nwonu Douglas ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 2nd day of June, 2025 at about 0200hrs, at No. 3, Itafa Street, Maya, Ikorodu Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Nwonu Douglas ‘m’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, whilst armed with guns and cutlasses, did rob one Toyota Corolla Saloon car valued Ten million Naira (N10,000,000,00), five (5) phones valued One million Naira (N1,000,000.00), wrist watch valued One million, two hundred thousand Naira (N1,200,000.00), money transferred Nine hundred and eighty thousand Naira (N980,000.00), three (3) laptops valued One million, two hundred thousand Naira (N1,200,000.00) with computer application valued Seventeen million Naira (N17,000,000.00), one television valued One million, six hundred thousand Naira (N1,600,000.00), working tools valued One million, vo hundred thousand Naira (N1,200,000.00) and cash sum of Three million, three undred thousand Naira (N3,300,000.00), all total valued Forty-four million, five undred thousand Naira (N44,500,000.00), property of one Oke Oyesola Olufemi ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 296 and Punishable under Section 17(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Supol Phillip Ademigbuji, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP”s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
