Rowe Park Hosts Canary Birds Championship Final Sunday

The grand finale of the 2016 Canary Birds “Ibaka” Championship will hold Sunday, at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe-Park, Yaba, Lagos State. 

The championship, sanctioned by the Singing Birds Lovers’ Association of Nigeria, saw a total of 32 birds slugging it out with the best two emerging in the final.

Judgement and Excellence will battle it out for the Gold Cup, while Hercules will face Eyi for the third place.

To reach the final, Judgement, defied all odds to the admiration of its admirers and fans, cracked 100 to defeat Hercules to 44 cracks, Excellence on the other hands booked its place in the final with 100 cracks as against Eyi’s 32.

On what to expect in the finals on Sunday, Chairman Lagos State Traditional Sports Committee Bash Augusto assured lovers of the sport to come out in their numbers to see the best of birds singing, adding that the day will be melodious rending day at the Rowe Park Sports Centre.

According to Augusto, “We have concluded plans to ensure the final of the 2016 Canary Birds Championship holds without hitches, we have carefully planned for day, knowing that this is a special sport. We want to give our fans the best and it will surely leave its wake unforgettable memor
