#RunBuja, a bilateral diplomatic programme of the Nigerian Mission in Burundi, is geared towards using the instrumentality and resourcefulness of sports in ensuring a more prosperous and secure society. The Nigerian Embassy organizes this programme to deepen its economic and social ties with East African communities, promote healthy best practices and raise awareness for a healthy youthful life style. It is also targeted at ensuring the discovery of nascent talents in the sporting sector especially in athletics.
Ambassador Elijah Onyeagba, while briefing the Media on the preparedness of the Embassy to host the 2nd edition, hinted that this year’s edition will feature an expanded range of consolation prizes courtesy of their sponsors KCB Bank and Brarudi.
According to the him, “#RunBuja is officially now an annual programme of the Nigerian Mission in Burundi. The Mission is introducing to it a special flavour of “the elderly wing” in this year’s edition. RunBuja will now fully feature participants from other countries including Nigeria and the East African communities. We have fully upgraded its capacity to include international participants”.
The event is tailored to feature winners in both the men’s and women’s categories respectively with a reward of a cash sum of 1,000,000 Bif while the first Runner Up receives 750,000 Bif and the second runner up 500,000 Bif. There will be consolation prizes up to the tenth place runners.
