Sales Rep. Arrested For Bolting Away With Company’s N4m Goods Entrusted To Him

A 43-year old sales representative, Daniel Gift Oluwabunmi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly bolting away with a company’s goods worth N4m. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Best Top Choice Enterprises located at Nob-Oluwa Street, Ogba area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect collected the goods as the company’s sales representative to sell and remit the money into the company’s account. But he failed to do so and bolted away with the money.
When the period he was supposed to have remitted the money elapsed, the matter was reported to the Police at Area G Command Headquarters in Ogba, Lagos. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained him at the Command for interrogation over the alleged conduct.
However, after interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you, DANIEL GIFT OLUWABUNMI ‘M’ on the 16th day of July, 2024 at about 1510hrs and at No. 8A, Nob-Oluwa Street, Ogba, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District did fraudulently convert the total sum of Four Million Eighty One Thousand Four Hundred Naira (N4,081,400.00) being the sales proceed of goods sold and entrusted Into your care, as a sales representative of BEST TOP CHOICE ENTERPRISES owned by one IKHANOBA DORA ‘F and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 314(3) of the Criminal Law of the Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II
That you, DANIEL GIFT OLUWABUNMI ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District did steal the sum of of Four Million Eighty One Thousand Four Hundred Naira (N4,081,400.00) property of BEST TOP CHOICE ENTERPRISES owned by one IKHANOBA DORA ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 (9) (b) and (e) of the Criminal Law of the Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 26th September, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
