Security Men, Storekeeper, Others Remanded For Allegedly Stealing N192m Diesel

Operatives of the Maroko division of the Lagos State Police Command, Lagos have arrested two security men, Abel Bamidele, 34, Alhaji Baba Kolo,32, a store keeper, Seidu Amuzu,40 and the alleged receiver of stolen properties, Akin Omotayo, 29, and dragged them before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 175 litres of diesel valued at N192,500,000 at midnight after closing hours.
Nemesis, however, caught up with the defendants when their employers, VIVA Project Limited discovered the theft and reported the matter to the Police at the Maroko Division, Lekki who swiftly arrested them.
The defendants were charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court at the Tinubu Court on a three count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Police Counsel, Reuben Solomon informed the court in the charge marked P/67/2025 that the defendants committed the offence on 19, November, 2025 VIVA project Limited located at Water Cooperation drive, Victoria Island Island, Lagos.
Solomon told the Court that the defendants connived to steal their employer’s diesel and went to sell the diesel to their accomplice, Omotatyo and that luck however ran out against them when their employer discovered the alleged theft leading to their arrest.
He said the offences, the defendants committed were punishable under sections 411, 287(7) and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 20215.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Mrs N.Oseni Wahab granted them N50,000 bail each with two surties each in like sum.
Wahab adjourned the case till 4 December, 2025 for mention and ordered that the defendants be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till they perfected the bail conditions.
