Senate Confirms Alake, Pate, Tunji-Ojo, Wike, Betta Edu, 3 Others Left Out

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed 45 ministerial nominees Monday while three others yet to be confirmed due to pending security clearance and other reasons. 

As part of those confirmed is the youngest nominee, who had a sterling performance at the floor of the senate, Dr Betta Edu from Cross River state.

The 36-year old Medical Doctor has distinguished herself in the health sector as the immediate past Commissioner for Health in Cross River state, former Chairman of all the Commissioners of Health in Nigeria and APC National Women Leader who contributed immensely to the victory of the President Bola Tinubu.

She is energetic and full of ideas to drive the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Another woman of substance who was confirmed was Hon Imaan Suleiman, the DG, NCRMIDP and Former DG NAPTIP.

Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim is a highly experienced and accomplished professional with over 20 years of technical, administrative, and executive experience in various sectors.

She has worked in both public, private, and development sector organizations and a certified SAP HCM consultant.

Imaan is an active politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Party, a platform under which she contested during the primaries for Federal House of Representatives in 2018.

She is currently a serving member of the Nasarawa State Investment and Economic Advisory Council, appointed by the Executive Governor in August 2019, where she brings her wealth of experience in programmes, policy formulation and planning.

Another super deal on the cabinet, a young intelligent brain, the 41-year old certified ethical hacker, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo was also confirmed as the only nominee from Ondo state.

He is a professional and public administrator, a two-term member of the House of Representatives with a successful previous career in the private sector spanning over 15 years.

He was the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the 9th Assembly where he had over-sight of the development and management of resources in the commission, bringing about rapid changes in the region with several projects to his credit.

Tunji-Ojo has a vast knowledge and work experience in the Oil and Gas sector.

He obtained certifications in several professional qualifications, including being one of the first set of Certified Ethical Hackers from the Royal Britannia Training Academy in the United Kingdom.

He is a strong advocate for the fiscal stability of National and International Oil Companies (NOCs and IOCs), played a key role in the passage of the Petroleum Industrial Bill (PIB), which aims to promote transparency and efficiency in the oil and gas sector.

He was instrumental in expanding the Nigerian Content Framework, which has led to the creation of thousands of jobs for Nigerian youth.

The Senate have in the last one week taken 48 nominees on a thorough screening process, looking at their CVs, presentation at the floor of the senate, credentials and petitions that has been brought before the senate.

It must also be noted that President Tinubu has nominated the highest number of women as ministers in the history of Nigeria.

He has also put in the highest number of young people under 45 in his cabinet. This promises to be a very dynamic cabinet to meet the yearnings of Nigeria and bring about the necessary development at speed of light.
