The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano received a high-powered delegation from the Senate Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Development who came to carry out part of their oversight functions in the state.

The delegation who were received by the Governor at the Governor’s Lodge, was led its Chairman, Senator Barnabas Gemade.

Senator Gemade on behalf of the committee relayed the commendation of the Senate to Governor Obiano.

The members of the Senate delegation included the senator representing Edo South, Senator Mathew Urhoghide and his Imo North Counterpart, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu.

Senator Gemade said they were in the State to inspect the progress of work on 3 ongoing Federal projects in Anambra state, namely the National Housing Project, the Federal Secretariat and the Zik’s Mausoleum.

Noting that successive administrations at the Federal level had gone without paying positive attention to the housing needs of the people, Senator Gemade said it’s the intention of the Buhari-administration to partner States of the Federation to undertake housing schemes across the country.

He however regretted that most states were not forthcoming in the partnership, commending Gov Obiano for his proactive move in ensuring that Anambra State keyed into the initiative to cater for the housing needs of the people.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Gov Obiano said the state will continue to collaborate the Federal Government across productive areas that would  have positive bearing on the lives of Ndi Anambra.

It will be recalled that Anambra has met its counterpart obligations for the project, having provided the land for the project.
