Senator Adeola Never ‘Knocked’ Ogun Governor On LG Elections

Posted on October 13, 2024

The Lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District and the chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Adeola, said that his attention has been drawn to an online story with the caption “Imposition: Yayi Knocks Dapo On Ogun LG Elections” as published by one blogger on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Debunking the concocted story, Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola stated, “There is no doubt that this concocted story is yet another failed attempt at instigating a conflict between the performing governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Senator Adeola on the issue of yet to be conducted elections into Local Government Councils of Ogun State. In the last failed attempt that was vehemently rebutted, the governor was alleged to have excluded the Senator’s loyalists from emerging as APC candidates”.

“That was not the truth as various stakeholders of the party participated in the emergence of chairmen and councilors.”

“The clearly fabricated story drew its’ mischievousness from the contribution of Senator Adeola to a debate on a motion sponsored by Senator Abba Moro, the minority leader of the Senate on sham LG elections that had taken place in Nigeria following the Supreme Court ruling on Local Government Autonomy. Incidentally, no LG elections has taken place in Ogun State as the process for an election into LGAs is still on and Senator Adeola could not have commented either for or against an election yet to take place.”

“For the records the video clip of Senator Adeola’s contribution on the floor of the Senate on the debate has since gone viral on most social media platforms including Youtube made absolutely no reference to the Ogun State governor in person or his exalted office.”

“The only direct reference to Ogun State in the Senator’s submission is worth quoting in full as can be seen in the viral evidential video when he stated: “And I agree with you because for my state we are yet to conduct local government elections. And so far, so good, we are watching and looking at the process”. How this complimentary comment on Ogun State on a national issue that was being debated on the floor of the highest legislative body in Nigeria for solution becomes a knock on the governor of his state is only possible for individuals with a satanic agenda of causing a rift between the two elected officials of Ogun State and indeed crisis in Ogun state APC.”

“The Senator commended the governor on the process towards the multi-party LG Elections in Ogun State so far and it is not impossible that Ogun State may yet deviate from the sham elections going on around the country when it eventually conducts its own LG election next month. So, it is a lie that Senator Adeola knocks the governor on an election yet to be conducted.”

“All other concocted allegations in the story attributed to Senator Adeola are only in the puerile imagination of the writer and his sponsors seeking yet a ploy to put a wedge in the cordial relationship between the governor and Yayi to derail the complementary development they are daily delivering for the people of Ogun State.”
