Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, the distinguished lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, is mourning the death of the head of his family at Ago Isaga Compound, Pahayi-Yewa, Ilaro.
Elder Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu passed away in the early hours of today at the age of 85 after a brief illness.
In a condolence message, Senator Adeola described the late Ogundimu as the “Oloriebi of the Onibata family”, who stood by him through thick and thin over the years.
He said the death of the elder statesman is an irreplaceable loss, noting that Baba Ogundimu was a repository of the history of the Isaga people domiciled in Pahayi-Yewa, Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
“Baba Ogundimu, famously called ‘Baba Yayi’ over the years was a great uncle to me,” the Senator stated.
“He was full of encouragement for me as a son of the Onibata Family and was ready at all times to narrate the genealogy of the family for many generations of Isaga people.
“I will surely miss his usual wise counsel and encouragement to continue in the noble trajectory of good governance for my people.”
Senator Adeola noted that the late Chief Ogundimu was the Akinrogun of Pahayi-Yewa and also served as a former Councilor for Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South LGA.
The APC governorship candidate prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked God to grant the immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The Onibata family, Ago Isaga Compound, and the people of Pahayi-Yewa have been receiving sympathizers since news of the passing broke.
