Posted on May 1, 2026

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations and Ogun State APC Consensus Candidate for Governor 2027, Senator(Dr) Solomon Adeola CON, FCA, FCTI, FFPI, FYCT, has warmly celebrated the Ogun State workers on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.
In his goodwill message heralding the International Workers’ Day, Aremo Adeola Yayi said, “My dear good people and workers of Ogun State,
On this International Workers’ Day, I stand with you in gratitude and respect. You are the hands that teach our children, heal our sick, till our farms, trade in our markets, keep our civil service running, and power our factories in Agbara, Ewekoro and Sagamu”.
“In a time of economic adjustment, you have carried Nigeria on your shoulders with patience, honesty and quiet sacrifice. The Gateway State works because you work.”
“At the national level, I join you in celebrating the worker-friendly direction of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Under his Renewed Hope agenda, the President signed into law the 2024 National Minimum Wage Amendment Act which raised the national wage floor to N70,000 after painstaking tripartite negotiations, and provided for a shorter three-year review cycle to keep wages responsive to realities. He also approved a provisional wage award for low-grade federal workers, established the Presidential CNG Initiative to roll out compressed natural gas buses and lower transport costs, and pursued duty suspensions and other stabilisation measures to ease the burden of reforms on working families.”
“Here in Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, has demonstrated the same fidelity to labour. He approved N77,000 as the minimum wage for the lowest-paid worker in our state public service, seven thousand naira above the national benchmark, and pledged that Ogun will not be second in implementation. His administration is also pursuing CNG vehicle options to bring down commuting costs, and has continued to engage organised labour in open, respectful dialogue to protect workers’ welfare while sustaining our state’s rapid economic growth.”
“As your Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, I have continued to legislate and appropriate for policies that make work rewarding in Ogun West and across Nigeria. I have also facilitated investments in vocational training and MSME credit, roads and power that support industry, and health and education facilities that dignify the worker and the worker’s family.”
“The labour of our people must produce prosperity in our time.
May God bless the Nigerian worker.
May God bless Ogun State.
May God bless Nigeria.
Happy Workers’ Day! Senator Adeola concluded.
