The Distinguished Lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, said he has received with deep shock the news of the passing of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo Jr., describing it as both a national tragedy and a personal loss.

The Senator stated that Segun Awolowo was a refined gentleman whose intelligence, warmth, and effortless grace left a lasting impression on all who encountered him.

“Segun Awolowo embodied the highest ideals of public service. From his early days in legal practice to his distinguished roles under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, to his impactful leadership as Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, and most recently as the National Coordinator of the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office (NG-AfCFTA), he consistently served with integrity, courage, and an exceptional sense of duty” he stated.

The Senator added that Nigeria has lost a true asset, a man whose contributions strengthened national development in measurable and lasting ways.

While acknowledging that his time on earth was brief, Senator Adeola emphasized that Segun Awolowo’s legacy remains significant and enduring.

He extended heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, the entire Awolowo family, and all Nigerians grieving this painful loss. Senator Adeola prayed that God grants them strength and that the gentle soul of the departed finds eternal rest.
