Senator Adeola Yayi Pledges Greater Muslim Inclusion In Ogun Governance

APC Governorship Candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, has made a solemn pledge to ensure greater inclusion of Muslims in governance and government benefits when elected.

 

The pledge was made on Saturday in Ilaro during the installation and turbaning of the Grand Chief Imam of Yewaland, Sheikh Uthman Fasasi Amode Akewukanwo, held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Yewa South Local Government Area.

The religious ceremony was attended by top Islamic leaders across the state, including:
– Sheikh Quadri Abiola Jinadu, Grand Chief Imam of Remoland and President of the Ogun State League of Imams and Alfas
– Sheikh Muftaudeen Ayanbadejo, Grand Chief Imam of Ijebuland
– Sheikh Alade Bamgbola, Grand Chief Imam of Egbaland

Hours earlier, Senator Yayi had also been hosted by the Egba Muslim Community in Abeokuta.


Speaking at the event, Senator Yayi promised to sustain and expand efforts aimed at supporting the Muslim community in the state.

He cited his record of sponsoring about 500 Muslims to Hajj this year alone, as well as goodwill gestures during Islamic festivities and observances, as evidence of his commitment.

“I make a solemn pledge to carry Muslims along in governance and other benefits in the future, just as I have been doing,” he said.


The event drew a large gathering of political leaders, government officials, Muslim supporters, and well-wishers, including:

– Dr. Adekunle Isiaq Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Services
– Alhaja Salmot Badru, former Deputy Governor of Ogun State
– Rt. Hon. Suraju Adekunmbi, former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly
– Rt. Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi, Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly
– Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, Baba Adinni of Yewaland
– Hon. Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka, Seriki Adinni of Yewaland
– Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, former Ogun State Governorship candidate
– Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, APC Senatorial Candidate for Ogun West
– Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan, Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning
– Hon. Babatunde Olaotan, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor
– Hon. Adebisi Citiside, and other top government officials, Islamic clerics, and faithful.

The installation of Sheikh Akewukanwo as Grand Chief Imam of Yewaland was described by attendees as a unifying moment for the Muslim community in Ogun West and across the state.
