The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife, on Saturday visited one Abuchi Enweaso, whose father was alleged to have cut off his hands in a domestic violence.

Senator Ekwunife visited Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital where the young man was receiving treatment to see things for herself. While offering the young man financial succour, she described the incident as horrific.

In her speech, the Senator said that when she read the report of the incident on social media, she sent her Njikoka Local Government Coordinator to locate the victim so that she can visit the victim at the hospital.

She described the incident as very unfortunate and the height of wickedness. According to the Distinguished Senator, she had already contacted the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command who had commenced investigation into the matter with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.

She advised victims of domestic violence to speak up and report such abuses and threats to their lives promptly to the appropriate authorities before it becomes too late. She advised citizens not to take laws into their hands in the manner the boy’s father did, no matter the level of provocation; insisting that perpetrators of such dastardly acts will be arrested and prosecuted within the ambits of our laws as there will be no hiding place for the wicked.

In her words, “This incident is wicked, satanic and an embarrassment to Anambra Central Senatorial District and Anambra State in general; for one to think that an ugly incident of this nature will occur in a State like ours is unbelievable”. She promised that the victim will receive the best medical treatment possible while assuring an early conclusion of investigation and arraignment of the culprit to Court soonest. It will be noted that Senator Ekwunife is on the side of the Nigerian youths and an advocate of an end to SARS and Police brutality.
