The lawmaker representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Tony Nwoye, has expressed shock over the death of his fellow Anambra Senator, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, describing it as a tragedy and big loss to Anambra State and the country.

In a statement personally signed by him, Dr Nwoye, who called Ubah his big brother, described how they had maintained a personal relationship despite their separate political trajectories.

Senator Nwoye said, “I received a rude shock this morning, the news of the death of my dear senior brother, friend and colleague, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah fondly called “EbubechukwuUzo”.

“Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has been a long standing senior friend and compatriot. He was a renowned businessman, who founded the famous Capital Oil and gas Ltd in 2001 before he ventured into politics.”

“As a legislator, he attracted lots of projects and other democracy dividends for his people, contributed his quota in the national discourse and debate.”

“Honestly there can never be another like Ebubechukwuuzo, who treated and regarded me as his younger brother and friend.”

“Despite our different party affiliations, we remained faithful and committed to our friendship.”

“Ebubechukwuuzo was a philanthropist extraordinary, who contributed immensely to better humanity through his Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, via which he cared for the less privileged in society, by investing in their education, and health and pulling people out of poverty. He was filled with milk of human kindness.”

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Anambra North Senatorial District, Anambra State, we pray that God Almighty who called him home, at this time, to forgive his sins and grant him eternal rest and grant his family, the entire Anambra South Senatorial District; Anambra State; Nigeria; and all of us, the fortitude to bear his sad irreplaceable loss Amen!”

“We have really lost a rare gem, really an Iroko has fallen. What a monumental loss and huge tragedy!” Senator Nwoye concluded.
