Soccer Promoter Tasks FG, States On Sports Development

Renowned banker and sports enthusiast, Paulinus Chima, has called for stronger proactive measures and innovative policies by both the Federal and State governments in the promotion of athletic competitions in the country.

The sports promoter, who is the founder/CEO of the Paulinus Agu Chima Foundation, noted that the nation is endowed with legions of talented youths in various fields of sports, who, if adequately mobilized and trained would earn the nation the enviable position of world final destination in sports.

Chima, who hails from Umuibe Village, Akwakuma in the Owerri North Council Area of Imo State, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with P.M.EXPRESS correspondent, during which he announced the 2019 Akwakuma Unity Cup competition being powered by this foundation.

According to him, the football competition which holds from Saturday 14th to 31st December, 2019, is to be competed among the various villages of the community and which would feature life band by Ass Ejimkonye and his musical dance group, Uncle JB, Boys’ Brigade march parade and a host of other attractions.

He explained that the Paulinus Agu Chima Foundation, established in 2008, to primarily touch the lives of the poor and the needy, had since inception offered scholarships to a number of bright but indigent students at primary, post primary schools and beyond in the community.

While calling on parents and guardians to always take proper care of their children, the University of Maiduguri trained economist also enjoined the youths to shun all forms of immorality that could ruin them in life.

Also speaking, the Chairman for the local organizing committee, Chief Onyewuchi Egwunwoke, assured that necessary preparations had been put in place to make the soccer competition a memorable one.
