The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has described mothers as special breed deserving of celebration.

Governor Soludo made this remark during a Sunday Mass held at the Governor’s Lodge to mark the Catholic Church Mothering Day.

He said mothers are the foundation of homes, who play decisive roles in building homes adding that the importance of mothers therefore, cannot be overemphasized in the society at large.

He further described mothers as the lifewire of homes, stressing that life will be nothing without mothers. He emphasised that the hand that cradles the child rules the world, saying that is what mothers represent.

Governor Soludo also spoke on the decadence in the society arising from the unbridled quest to make quick money. “The moment the society stop to ask people of what they do for a living, the society begins to die” he said.

“We need to get back to the foundation which is the home,” Governor Soludo further emphasised.

Soludo also used the occasion to admonished the youths and the prevailing insecurity in the State. He again appealed to those who have embarked on killing, destroying and burning of buildings to dedist from such unholy acts. He advised them to accept the hand of fellowship offered by government adding that government will help rehabilitate and get them engaged in productive activities.

He called on those in the bush to come out so that they will be reintegrated into the society stressing that there will be no space for criminal elements in Anambra State.

Governor Soludo reiterated that the dream of Anambra must be realised in the quest to building a livable and prosperous homeland for all.
Earlier, in his homily, Reverend Father Raphael Azubuike Onyekwelu emphasised the importance of the occasion to the Catholic Church in celebrating mothers across the globe.
Rev. Onyekwelu reiterated in his message that the importance of mothers in the home and society at large cannot be overemphasized.

Also at the Mass were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief (Barr ) Joachins Peter Anetor; Rt. Hon Dr Ben Nwankwo, (Isingidi); Hon Chike Anyaonu, Barrister Leo Chiegboka and others.
