When South Africa suffered Apartheid, the following Musicians fought for peace with their songs:
– Hugh Masekela
– Maria Makeba
– Yvonne Chakachaka
– Paul Simon
– Lucky Dube
– Black Mambazo etc.
During the Liberian Crisis, the following Musicians embarked on a peace tour with their music:
– Lagbaja
– Papa Wemba
– Angelique Kidjoe
– Sunny Okosun
– Oritz Williky
– Ras Kimono etc.
When Nigeria was under repressive Military regime, the following Musicians sang us into democracy:
– Fela Anikulapo Kuti
– Onyeka Onwenu
– Sunny Okosun
– Majek Fashek
– Christie Essien Igbokwe
Today, the Southeast needs the power of Music and Arts to return it to winning ways… can our Artists rise to the occasion? Can there be musical tours across worse hit areas?
Or we just want to pretend all is well?
