South East Will Appreciate Our Commitment To Support Atiku Abubakar & PDP Post 2023 – Hon Uloka

Posted on November 23, 2022

According to Hon. Uloka Chukwubuikem, Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Management Committee, Anambra State, people in the South East Region will appreciate the commitment to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party after the 2023 General elections.
Making the submission to the media in Awka, Anambra State, Hon Uloka said, “With Atiku Abubakar and Senator Ifeanyichukwu Okowa’s joint ticket looking probable and their victory mostly inevitable in 2023, we will be vindicated and our people will see reasons to appreciate our stand and commitment with the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, when the gains and rewards for our today’s decision begin to manifest”.
“In Anambra State, the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Management Committee, led by Professor Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, has consistently professed optimism about Atiku Abubakar and the PDP being the shortest feasible route for an Igbo presidency in view of the present realities on the ground. This may be difficult to accept for certain people in the South East for the time being, but it remains the only logical path for an Igbo political renaissance in Nigeria and easy election to the presidency in the next 4-8 years.”
“It’s comprehensible that our people are demanding an Igbo presidency in 2023, and while we all agree that such demand is morally right and timely, it’s also crucial that we try to convince ourselves that the South East and Ndigbo currently place much greater emphasis on having our region reconnected to the National Grid, having genuine reconciliation, and forging strategic alliances with other regions of the country.”
“Our decision to align with Atiku Abubakar, GCON, is never for selfish gain but for the collective interest of the South East and Ndigbo post 2023.”
“For any region to be president in Nigeria, you must belong to the two dominant parties in the country, which are today the PDP and APC, and have strong alliances with other regions, as no one region can produce the president without the support of other regions.”
“For us Ndigbo, what is important to us is the development of our region and the reconnection back to power and the national grid. With the outright rejection of APC by Nigerians over their failure in the last 7 years and other political parties not having the human and material resources to challenge for power, the option before the majority of Nigerians remains the PDP and Atiku-Okowa joint ticket.”
“It will be dangerous for the South East to be isolated and abandoned in the opposition for another 8 years in our nation’s democracy; hence, we must as a region give our collective support and votes to PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, GCON, if the South East must inherit the support of the North to produce the president when power reverts to the South after the term of Atiku Abubakar, GCON, who currently enjoys the support of the entire North.”
“In the APC, it’s obvious that the South East region and Ndigbo are treated like lepers, and with the statement credited to one of its leaders and Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, that the South East have no stake in the APC party and cannot benefit anything from the APC organization, it is rather stupid for any Igbo politician to continue to seek and canvass support for the party in the South East region.”
“It’s quite instructive for the South East and Ndigbo to be rational and strategic with their votes and support to help other parts of the country unseat the APC and reinstate the PDP while we will have to enjoy more sake to produce the President post 2023.”
“While we want to express our gratitude for the overwhelming support and unity shown for the PDP and the Atiku-Okowa ticket in Anambra State as led by Professor Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, we also want to make a plea to other South East states and voters to make this crucial sacrifice so that we can support the PDP as a region rather than specific individuals or state, as our support for PDP will continue to be the quickest path to the presidency. “
“In order to achieve greater success, we must make sacrifices that will strengthen our region as a whole and reawaken the Republican and tenacious spirit in our people. We must make sacrifices that will build on the successes that the South East and North have already achieved through strategic alliance in the past.”
“Today, it might seem illogical that we are supporting a Northerner to take over power from another Northerner, but it’s not so. We are instead making the sacrifice and forming the strategic alliance that will cede power and the presidency to the South East in the shortest possible time, mindful of the obvious fact that the previous president produced by the PDP party was from the Southern region, in the person of President Goodluck Jonathan. Albeit, the PDP was ready to micro-zone the Presidency to the South East, but it was the decision of the Governor Samuel Ortom-led PDP zoning committee to trash zoning and leave the contest open, obviously to benefit his man Friday, Nyesom Wike, from the South-South region, but that quest failed woefully. In such regard, it became herculean for the South East to compete because we did not begin the preparations of seeking support from other blocs on time, and no Igbo aspirant could win in such an arrangement, hence our commitment to the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar.”
“Among the benefits of the Atiku-Okowa joint ticket is the assurance that, under Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Nigeria will be restructured and he will ensure true federalism to replicate the development associated with Ndi-Igbo in the third Republic.”
“We urge Ndigbo, the intellectual, leaders of thoughts of the South East, to put their faith in our choice to support Atiku Abubakar and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election. We are confident that it will serve the interests of our people and region and that our efforts will be recognized and appreciated after 2023” Hon Uloka concluded.
