The Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria has honoured the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Mile One Diobu Division, CSP Francis Ogbechie, in recognition of his contributions to effective policing and peaceful coexistence in Rivers State.

The recognition was conferred during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the Foundation led by its National President General, Ambassador Emeni Ibe, on Friday, 24th April, 2026, at the Mile One Diobu Divisional Headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Speaking during the visit, Amb. Ibe commended the DPO for his dedication to duty and his commitment to promoting security, unity, and stability within the Diobu axis. He noted that the officer’s efforts have significantly enhanced community policing and strengthened trust between residents and law enforcement.

He further reaffirmed the Foundation’s readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in advancing peacebuilding initiatives, youth engagement, and crime reduction strategies across the region.

“The Southern Youth Foundation remains committed to advocating sustainable security, youth empowerment, and national unity. We are here not only to commend your efforts but also to pledge our total support and cooperation in ensuring a safer society,” Ibe stated.

Highlighting the objectives of the Foundation, he explained that the organization serves as an umbrella body for youths across the 17 southern states, focusing on promoting dialogue, discouraging violence, and encouraging constructive engagement with security agencies.

As part of the visit, the Foundation presented a Certificate of Excellence to CSP Ogbechie in recognition of his outstanding contributions to effective and efficient community policing in line with the vision of the Nigeria Police Force leadership.

In his response, CSP Ogbechie expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the honour, stating that he was surprised to learn that his efforts were being recognized by members of the public.

“I am humbled by this recognition. I was only doing my job to the best of my ability,” he said, dedicating the award to his officers and the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State.

The DPO also urged members of the Foundation and the general public to remain law-abiding and to support the police with timely and credible information that would aid in crime prevention and security enforcement.

The visit underscores the growing collaboration between youth organizations and security agencies in fostering peace and stability in Rivers State.
