Speaker Obasa’s Birthday: Agege, Orile Agege Clash In Friendly Showdown 

Team AVO captained by the Chairman, Agege Local Government, Honorable Abdulganiyu Obasa and Team Dodo led by the Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, Honorable Abiodun Idowu clashed in a football match decided on Saturday.

The friendly match tagged ‘The Ultimate Showdown’ was organized to celebrate the birthday of the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Honorable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, bring people of both councils together to honor the reverend leader and astute politician.

In a display of oneness, a friendly match played under celebratory atmosphere emphasized the spirit of unity embodies by Honorable Obasa and his commitment to the development of not just Agege and Orile Agege but the whole of Lagos through purposeful leadership.

The pulsating encounter was witnessed by government functionaries, public office holders, politicians and faithfuls of the All Progressives Congress as well as sports, especially football enthusiasts who thronged the Anwar-Islam Model College, Oniwaya, venue of the friendly match.

Emphasizing the significance of the friendly match, the chairmen acknowledged that Sports is not just a pastime; but is a powerful tool for empowerment. They reaffirmed their commitment to use sports for not only nurturing talents but also foster discipline and teamwork among the youth of Agege and Orile Agege.

For Agege LG boss, Obasa, the celebration is bigger this year with the forthcoming ‘Obasa Games 2025’ becoming a statewide event, featuring multiple sports including Football, Basketball, Boxing and indoor games.

The keenly contested and entertaining friendly match was won by Team AVO after they triumphed over Team Dodo on penalties following two-all draw at the end of regulation time.
