StarTimes Offers Localized Education Solutions For African Kids

Desirous of ensuring that customers experience timely, uncommon and innovative content as the COVID-19 lockdown continues, leading Pay TV Company – StarTimes has returned with a unique educational television programme for students and children across African countries.

The educational TV programme will be aired on StarTimes Channels in various African countries that include; Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Guinea, South Africa and Mozambique among others.

The programme will bring relief to parents whose major headache has been the fear of the educational standard of their wards dropping, and the kids getting carried away with too many unnecessary activities.

In Nigeria, StarTimes is providing Homeschooling educational channel which airs every Monday to Friday by 10:00 am on ST Kids’ channel.

The great educative content inspires learning and spark curiosity in young minds. Homeschooling includes social studies, science, handicraft, painting, and dance..

In Ghana, Ghana Learning TV is providing distance education programme for students at the Senior High School level while courses for other levels are under development. While in South Africa, Mindset Learn will deliver lessons on several subjects such as Mathematics, Physical Science and Life Science to children from grade 8 to 12.

In Guinea, StarTimes is producing a teaching programme in partnership with the Ministry of Education on the channel IBM Soul TV while in Central Africa; the channel Cdirect TV broadcasts official education courses in two Congos.

Kenya, Elimu TV and EDU TV, which won the Children Programming Award during the KUZA Awards 2018, have been added to StarTimes platform.

In Uganda, BSS launched a new programme called “Homeschooling” aimed at primary and secondary school students. And in Mozambique, the newly launched Portuguese channel Telescola TV offers lessons for children from levels 9

Speaking on the initiative, the company noted that “We have been working closely with each country’s authorities and broadcasters to provide local educational solutions to every African family. Education is crucial for every society and television is a unique tool to reach kids wherever they are.

The company further explained that, “At the moment, the world has chosen TV as the main education platform since the close down of schools and we have made it a priority to keep children busy at home through various learning programmes.
