Suspect Docked For Impersonating Lagos Socialite’s Identity On Social Media

18-year old suspect, Favour Eronni, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for impersonation and breaching public peace by using a a female socialite’s identity to open an account on social media to extort members of the public.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Commissioner of Police accused Eronni of using the identity of Miss Mmesoma Ojukwu to create fake TikTok and Instagram accounts between January 2024 and August 2025 in the Jakande Estate area of Isolo, Lagos.
The matter was investigated by Inspector Anuge Oseghale of the Command’s Tactical Team Panther, Egbeda, under Area M Command, Idimu, Lagos.
He was found culpable after thorough interrogation and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
On the charge sheet, it was alleged that Eronni used Ojukwu’s name, pictures, and information to defraud people and tarnish her reputation, violating Section 380 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015.
He was also accused of conduct likely to cause breach of public peace under Section 168(d) of the same law under the Criminal Law of the State, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Favour Eronni ‘M’ between the month of January 2024 to August 2025 at Jakande Area of Isolo, Lagos. in the Lagos Magisterial District, did impersonate to be Miss Mmesoma Ojukwu ‘F’ by using her Name, Pictures and Information on Social Media to create a tiktok and instagram page for yourself with intent to defraud people and causing her character assassination, a representation known to you to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 380 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Favour Etonni ‘M’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by impersonating to be Miss Mmesoma Ojukwu ‘F on a social media platform and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Suupol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
