Posted on January 6, 2026
The energy at the 2025 Carnival Calabar Music Concert reached a whole new level as T2 created the first-ever rap battle platform, giving young Nigerians an electrifying stage to showcase their talent, creativity, and self-expression and win prizes. Held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, the activation brought together thousands of carnival-goers, blending pulsating music, vibrant culture, and youthful energy into a dynamic celebration that had fans on their feet from start to finish.
Eight fearless contestants stepped into the spotlight, ready to go bar for bar in an intense lyrical showdown. Rappers fused local languages, pidgin, and clever punchlines, even incorporating T2 into their verses, while the energetic hosting duo MC Double I and MC Princess kept the crowd fully engaged. Over 16,000 carnival-goers, including Governor Bassey Otu, witnessed an unforgettable fusion of talent, creativity, and culture.
Contestants battled for prizes including fridges, gas cookers, sound systems, and airtime top-ups, raising the stakes and keeping the competition thrilling. After two rounds of high-energy performance narrowed the field to a five-man final duel, Emmanuel Eye emerged as the overall winner, taking home the grand prize of a fridge.
“I never expected this at all,” said Emmanuel Eye. “I came to the concert like anyone else, and hearing about the T2 rap battle was a surprise. Performing on this stage and being named the overall winner is amazing. I want to thank T2 for creating this platform to showcase talent.”
Beyond the performances, T2’s activation delivered real value to attendees. Hundreds reactivated their T2 lines, while others walked away with airtime top-ups and gift items, highlighting T2’s commitment to youth engagement and cultural empowerment.
Chinelo Mbanefo, Specialist, Events and Sponsorship at T2, commented, “The energy from both the rappers and the crowd was incredible. This platform celebrates youth, creativity, and culture, while connecting people to the excitement of Carnival Calabar. Seeing the audience so fully engaged shows how music and performance can empower the next generation.”
The Carnival’s mega concert, headlined by Tiwa Savage, Timaya, and top local performers, was further energized by T2’s interactive rap battle platform, creating a dynamic, immersive experience. By blending music, culture, and youth expression, T2 continues to champion Nigeria’s next generation, giving talented young Nigerians a stage to shine and voices a platform to be heard.
