A new Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, True Change Advocacy, TCA, has emerged and vowed to join hands in fighting corruption and to make those in authority accountable for the emancipation common people in Nigeria.
The group comprises of professionals, ethnic nationalities and religious bodies cut across Nigerian, was launched on Saturday, 1 October to mark Nigeria’s 56th Independence anniversary in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The coordinator of the group, Comrade Goddy Amanzechi explained that TCA was a vision of like mind Nigerians who came together to form the group as a watchdog to monitor the activity of both the politicians and government officials from the local government to the National level.
Amanzechi noted that the Nigerian people have been cheated and intimidated over the years due to lack of check and balances to make those in authority to render account of their stewardship.
He said the Change mantra of the present administration is not really the change Nigeria want, adding that the change we need is what will affect the lives of the poor masses positively.
He said the masses share the blame on the condition they found themselves because they are not organised to question those in authority on what and how their actions will impart their lives.
He said the common patrimony have been looted and the people’s living condition are in comatose because of bad leadership.
The TCA coordinator added that the organization will spread and have chapters in both the rural and urban areas to sensitize and mobilize the masses to fight for their right and on how to improve their living condition in the society.
“Nigerians need to wake up and seek for real change that will bring food on the table of common man,” Amanzechi said.
He disclosed that with the way things are going on now, if nothing was not done, those who looted our money will continue and will subject the common man to more hardship.
He then urged the people to ask many questions concerning their living condition.
He added that the recession and rising exchange rate of currencies was as a result of corruption and looting perpetrated by the politicians and leaders.
He noted that the same set of people are shamelessly hanging around the corridors of power in the local governments, states and federal levels to finish what remain in our treasury. The new NGO boss called on everybody to join hands to resist them so that the common man will live better in the society.
The group later on solicited for the support of media practitioners and honest Nigerians to join in the fight to eradicate corruption in Nigeria.
Among members of the group who spoke in similar manner include Mrs Lamutu Mamudu, Richard Johnson and others.
