A 38-year old school teacher, Olatayo Olusegun, has displayed his boxing skills by raining blows on his neighbour, Sydney Obuikwu, and seriously battering him during a public fight in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Block 32 Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos State, where they reside.
The victim, Obuikwu, was said to have received the beating he will not forget in a hurry. The suspect, Olusegun, has landed in trouble after the attack as he has been arrested over the alleged offence.
The victim, Obuikwu, suffered his fate after he engaged Olusegun in a quarrel over charging of phones due to power failure in the area, which resulted into a physical fight between the duo.
During the fight, Olusegun reportedly displayed his boxing prowess, knocked down Obuikwu and injured him seriously. He was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he was eventually treated for the injuries he sustained on his face.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division; Olusegun was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the injury he inflicted on the victim.
After thoroughly investigating the matter, the Police found Olusegun’s conduct culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence, which brought him to the Court.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E. O. Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned to 4th April, 2022 but further adjourned pending when the new Magistrates will resume due to the transfer of Magistrates in Lagos State.
