The Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals, SDG, and the former Deputy governor of Lagos State, Adejoke, has commended the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku and Eko Club Atlanta, for the free medical outreach programme for residents of the council.

Orelope gave the commendation when she paid a visit to the outreach on Tuesday which kicked off at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, NIJ, Ogba, Ikeja.

Tagged the ‘Ojodu Medical Outreach Program,’ the free medical program is part of the broader initiatives by the council chairman to address health challenges within the council under his H.E.Y.S Reloaded four-point agenda.

Residents were offered free health services on malaria, dental check, cancer screening, tuberculosis test, health education, vision screening and free frame and free medication.

Orelope said the initiative is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and an indication that citizens ‘could feel the impact of the government at the grassroots level if political office holders have the interest of their people at heart.’

She lauded Odunmbaku’s giant strides in the health sector since he assumed office citing the upgrading of three of the Primary Health Centres at the council area into modern facilities.

Speaking at the event, Odunmbaku said the outreach is a testimony of his compassion for the people to touch their lives and uplift communities.

He noted that under his H.E.Y.S. Agenda Reloaded, which focuses on Health, Education, Youth and Women Empowerment, and Social Infrastructure, his administration has recorded remarkable progress in the health sector, one of which is the complete upgrading of three Primary Health Centres to modern facilities.

“From October 2023 till date, over 700 residents have benefited from free mini surgeries and over 5,000 residents have benefitted from free medical missions and health outreaches across our communities. We have also enrolled widows, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities into health insurance schemes, ensuring that vulnerable members of our society receive the medical attention they need without financial hardship. These initiatives underscore our commitment to inclusive healthcare that leaves no one behind,” Odunmbaku said.

He added that the collaboration with Eko Club Atlanta is a reflection of ‘the true spirit of Eko oni baje, the Lagos spirit of care, resilience, and communal support.’

Odunmbaku thanked the leadership and members of Eko Club Atlanta, USA, for bringing the initiative to Ojodu LCDA for the second time adding that 65 health professionals from the diaspora, comprising eight medical doctors, seven nurses and five pharmacists are part of the outreach.

He urged the residents to take advantage of the initiative and get treated of their ailments,

The President of Eko Club Atlanta, Deji Ajiboye, commended Odunmbaku for ‘doing a lot for his people.’

“The chairman has been doing a lot for the people, he has been building health centres. At Eko Atlanta, we like to give back. Do whatever you can do to support him,” he told the residents.

The Chairperson, Eko Club Atlanta Medical Mission, Wunmi Isiotan also commended the chairman for the medical outreach initiative.
