Tony OneWeek Heads To Appeal Court

Posted on December 16, 2022

Former legislator, Hon Tony Oneweek Muonagor, has appealed the judgement of the Federal High Court, Awka, which upheld the nomination of Hon Ikenna Iyiegbu, Ike Cubana as the candidate of APGA for 2023 Idemili North and South Federal Constituency election.

Hon OneWeek had asked the Court to nullify the nomination of Ike Cubana on the grounds that it breached the provision of Section 84 subsection 5(c) states that the every primary for the House of Representatives must hold in the Constituency. But in the instant case, APGA went to Awka, at King Davids Hotel to hold the Primary election on May 27, 2022.

But delivering judgement on the matter on November 29, Justice Nganjiwa dismissed the suit on the grounds that Hon OneWeek and other aspirants signed a memorandum of understanding before the election that they would accept the outcome of the election.

That’s only reason the case was dismissed

Not satisfied with this decision, Hon OneWeek headed to the Appeal Court for the needful to be done.
