Traditional Ruler’s Son Kills Student 6 Months After Release From Prison

The police in Lagos have arrested the son of a popular traditional ruler in Okokomaiko, Bashiru Ahmed a.k.a Kawu, over the murder of one of members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Oshin Aderibigbe.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 21-year old Kawu was said to have conspired with two of his gang members now at large, attacked and stabbed Aderibigbe severally and he bled to death.

This was disclosed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 26th April, 2019, at about 11.30am, one Comrade Oshin Aderibigbe, later identified as the PRO, Joint Campus Committee (JCC) of NANS, Lagos axis, reported at Okokomaiko Police Station with blood gushing from his body.
The victim stated before he died that he was attacked and stabbed by three young armed men who dispossessed him of his mobile phone and laptop.
Elkana said that he was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died while the Police moved into action to arrest the culprits.

The leader of the hoodlums that attacked him, Bashiru Ahmed a.k.a Kawu, 21, was arrested. He confessed to have committed the crime alongside two of his friends who are now at large.
Elkana disclosed that the said Bashiru Ahmed is the son of a popular traditional ruler in Okokomaiko and had been a notorious criminal who had been charged to Court several times by the Police for sundry offenses. He said that the suspect was released from prison six months ago for an undisclosed criminal offence and had been on the Police watch list.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti Yaba, for discreet investigation. He said already that Police detectives have spread their tentacles on the trace of the remaining two suspects on the run.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect might likely be charged for murder and if convicted he may be sentenced to death.
