It was a grand celebration as Igbo traditional leader, Eze Dr. Alex Sunday Nwoye, marked his 42nd wedding anniversary with his wife, Ugoeze Jacinta Nwoye, in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the event, held at his palace in Ejigbo, was attended by dignitaries from within and outside Ejigbo, who came to honour Eze Nwoye, the Babaselu of Ejigbo Kingdom, and his wife.
The air was filled with joy and songs as guests arrived dressed in their finest attires, eager to join in the celebration. Eze Nwoye, resplendent in his traditional regalia, welcomed everyone with a warm smile, his eyes shining with pride as he stood alongside his beautiful wife, Ugoeze Jacinta.
Among those in attendance were Eze Nwoye’s council members, led by Prime Minister (Onowu), Chief Odinaka Iwu, family members, and well-wishers. Guests praised the couple, describing their marriage as a model for young couples to emulate.
Prince Uche Nwoye, the couple’s first son, described the anniversary as “awesome,” considering the number of years involved. He attributed the couple’s successful marriage to their understanding, patience, and perseverance.
“My parents have shown us that marriage is not just about love, but about commitment, sacrifice, and teamwork,” he said.
Onowu Odinaka Iwu, the palace prime minister, described the celebrants as humble and God-fearing. He recalled knowing the family over 20 years ago through church activities and attributed their peaceful and long marriage to their dedication to God. “Their marriage is a testament to the power of faith and love,” he said.
Barr. Emeka Ukachi commended the couple for their patience and perseverance, noting that every marriage has its challenges, but understanding and cooperation can make it peaceful and lasting. “Their marriage is a shining example of what it means to love and cherish one another,” he said.
Ugoeze Jacinta Nwoye expressed gratitude to God for sustaining their marriage, citing love, communication, trust, patience, and perseverance as key factors. She noted that there are no perfect marriages, but understanding and communication play critical roles in sustaining one. “We have learned to laugh together, to cry together, and to work together,” she said, her voice filled with emotion.
As the celebration continued, guests were treated to a sumptuous feast, with exotic drinks, delicious food and traditional dance performances. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone caught up in the joy and love that filled the room.
As Eze Nwoye and his wife sat together, surrounded by their loved ones, it was clear that their love story was one for the ages – a testament to the power of love, commitment, and faith.
The climax of the event was the cutting of cake and photographs by the guests with the celebrants.
