Truck Driver, 40, In Trouble Over N4.3m Products He Failed To Deliver To Owner

A 40-year old truck driver, Mohammed Yusuf and his motor boy, Abdullahi Salami, 32, have landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly stealing N4.330m products he was asked to deliver to the owner as they sold some of the items and shared the money.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Yusuf and Salami, have been arrested and charged for conspiracy and stealing
The incident happened at Ago Owu Street, Shogunle area of Lagos, where they loaded 60 drums of engine oil from Lagos to Sokoto State but while on the transit, they sold nine drums of the engine oil and reportedly shared the money.
Trouble started for them after they delivered the product in Sokoto State and after counting it was less than the quantity loaded in Lagos State. They were then asked to explain what happened, but they were unable to do so.
The matter was reported to the Police at Shogunle Division and both of them were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged criminal conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrat Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector, John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence by bringing witnesses to testify against them.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 18th July, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
