Turn Out En Masse & Vote The Candidate Of Your Choice” – Elders’ Committee Advises Awgbu Indigenes

Posted on May 13, 2022

The Elders Committee of the Awgbu Progress Union has urged all Awgbu indigenes, who are eligible to vote, to turn out en masse tomorrow, 14th May, 2022, to select those who will pilot the affairs of Awgbu for the next 3 years.

Speaking to Newsmen at his residence in Awgbu, the Secretary of the Elders’ Committee, Elder Joseph Akidi, stated that genuine leadership can only exist when the people actively participate in the selection of its leaders.

“Tomorrow, Ndi Awgbu will have the opportunity to elect their leaders for the next three years. It’s pertinent that as a true son of Awgbu you come out to vote. Who we elect as the leader tomorrow will determine the future of Awgbu in the next three years. I implore you to ignore the naysayers and turn out to vote for a candidate who can collaborate with the government of the day and attract remarkable development to Awgbu”, he said.

In the same vein, a past President-General of Awgbu town and a member of the elders’ committee, Sir Obed Obi, stated that the May 14th election is sacrosanct while pleading with all Awgbu citizens to give peace a chance so that the town can benefit from the government of Charles Soludo who has so far shown goodwill by appointing our son his Chief-of-staff. He further ended that the election will bring an end to the two-year-long election crisis in Awgbu.

“If anyone thinks he is popular and wants to lead the Awgbu people, let them present themselves for election and test their popularity not to hide under the court to avoid elections” he said.

The election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 14th, at Abonato Hall by 10 am.
