LUCKY LAWAL

Two young suspects have been arrested by the Police in Ogun State for gang raping a 14-year old girl in Obantoko area of Odeda Local Government Abeokuta.
The two suspects were 19-year old Abiodun Ishola and 18-year old Kehinde Oloyede.
The two alleged rapists were arrested on the 29th of April, 2018, following a complaint from the victim (name withheld) at the police station.
According to the victim who claimed to be a hairdressing apprentice, “on Saturday, 29th of April, I was going to my boss’ shop unknown to me that the environmental sanitation exercise was going on. On getting to the front of Abiodun’s father’s house along the road, I met him sitting down in front of the house. He asked me if I was not aware of the sanitation exercise going on and the restriction of movement. I was surprised because I had forgotten. Abiodun then asked me to come and stay in their house pending when the exercise will be over”.
She further stated that while she was there that Abiodun stylishly took her bag inside. Then when it was time for her to take her leave, he told her to go and pick her bag inside unknown to her that Abiodun had sent for his friend Kehinde who later joined him from nowhere and as she walked inside to take her bag reluctantly since he refused to bring the bag out.
At that point the two friends made good their plan since there was nobody around. They pushed her into one of the rooms, covered her mouth, tied her hands to the back and they both forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
She was able to shout and her screaming attracted people who eventually rescued her. She summoned courage and wailed to the police station to report the unfortunate incident. Upon the report, the DPO Obantoko Division, SP Veronica Osakwe led detectives to the scene where Abiodun Ishola was arrested, and his arrest led to the eventual arrest of his accomplice Kehinde Oloyede.
During interrogations, they both confessed committing the crime. The victim has been taken to General Hospital for medical examination.
Meanwhile the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the two suspects be transferred to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department for further investigations and prosecution.
