The General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, has expressed the readiness of the State Government to partner with the US Mission on improving the environmental conditions of the State and promote sustainable living among residents.

Speaking at a meeting with the Consular-General of the US Embassy, Claire Pierangelo, held at the Mission’s Embassy in Lagos, Dr. Fasawe said that the meeting was in line with the Agency’s focus to drive environmental innovations through inter-sectoral collaborations with relevant stakeholders.

“In a bid to sustainably achieve our commitment to the environment, LASEPA constantly seeks for knowledge and skill-sharing opportunities to drive discourse, policy and innovations geared towards realising set targets on mitigative and adaptive climate resilience solutions, particularly air quality management”, she said.

She pointed out that the forum provided a platform for the Agency to share ideas and data on comparative analysis pacts in principle, as well as initiate agreements on the need for recipient-appropriate advocacy and behavioural remodelling modalities.

While expressing confidence that the partnership will open new opportunities for tackling environmental challenges, Fasawe revealed that engaging and empowering younger citizens on environmental matters and published research partnerships are also priorities to the cause.

“With both parties having the desire to build lasting, mutually beneficial and impactful partnership to drive environmental sustainability, we must begin to take conscious effort towards mitigating the adverse effect of air pollution”, she reiterated.

Earlier, the Consular General of the US Embassy in Lagos, Claire Pierangelo, had expressed the desire of the US Government to partner Lagos State in improving the environmental conditions of the State and promoting sustainability among the populace.

She reiterated that the US Mission in Lagos is ready to establish a significant system that will improve, monitor and manage air quality across the State.
