A petitioner, Mr. Uche David Esomonu, has cried foul over the non-prosecution of former House of Representatives member, Hon Rita Odichi Orji, who represented Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal Constituency in Lagos State, for alleged certificate forgery.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Hon. Orji, who represented the constituency between 2015 and 2019, was arrested by the Nigerian Police for the alleged WAEC certificate forgery on 24th November, 2024.
She was said to have used the fake  WAEC certificate to contest the election and won a seat in the House of Representatives and was in the House before it was later discovered by the petitioner, who informed the Police.
However, she was arrested, detained by the Police and she made statement before she was released on bail and since then, nothing has been heard on the matter.
The petitioner, Mr. Esomonu, is alleging that the case has been swept under the carpet and he is crying out that after the statement taken on the evening of the arrest, that nothing else has been done.
Mr. Esomonu is pointing fingers at the Nigerian Police and wondering why her case has been swept under the carpet even with overwhelming evidence against her during the investigation.
He urged the Nigerian Police to restore whatever dignity they have by bringing out the case file and prosecuting the suspect. He said he will not rest until justice is served by prosecuting Hon. Rita Odichinma Orji.
