How Wanted Internet Fraud Kingpin, Mompha Was Arrested With N20m Wrist Watches

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a wanted suspected internet fraud kingpin, Ismailia Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha in connection with internet fraud.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that EFCC also recovered from him wrist watches worth over N20m at the airport on his way to Dubai.
It was gathered that Mompha had been under close monitoring and had made several escapes before he was trapped at the airport.
This was disclosed by the EFCC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wilson Uwujare.
He stated that the EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, has arrested a social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha for alleged involvement in internet related fraud and money laundering.
The suspect was arrested on Friday 18th October, 2019, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following series of actionable intelligence reports linking him to organised transnational cyber fraud and money laundering.
Uwujare said Ismaila allegedly perpetrated his fraudulent activities under the cover of being a Bureau de Change operator, to launder his proceeds of crime.
However, the suspect has volunteered useful information while investigation continues. He added that at the point of his arrest, five wristwatches with a total value of over twenty million Naira (N20, 000, 000: 00) was recovered from him.
