A wanted suspected notorious armed robber and leader of a cult group popularly known as Arsenal has been arrested  along with seven other members of his gang in Lagos.

The arrest followed an operation led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, CSP Chikezie Okezie that lasted for several hours at a black spot in Oboye Street in Ejigbo area of Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the police recovered 2 pump action rifles, 6 locally made short guns, 6 axes, charms and other dangerous weapons.

The arrest of cult leader whose real name was not disclosed has ended his manhunt and reign which lasted for several years.

It was gathered that the suspect was declared wanted five years ago, but since then he had evaded arrest until he was arrested this week.

The suspect was said to have gone to the notorious Oboye Street for reprisal attack on the rival cult group before the police got hint of it and rounded him up.

According to eye witnesses, when the police arrived there, there were exchanges of gun fire between the police and the gang until the police overpowered them and arrested the suspects.

P.M.EXPRESS learnt that some of the cult members who managed to escape were still at large.

When our reporter visited Ejigbo Police division where they were taken to, the suspects were detained in the cell.

Efforts to speak with the DPO failed as he was said to have gone to the State Command at Ikeja to brief the Commissioner of Police.

However, police sources confirmed the incident and said the suspects have been terrorising Ejigbo and its environs.

The sources said the suspects will be handed over to State Anti-robbery squad, SARS for further interrogation.

When P.M.EXPRESS went back to the Station to speak to the suspects, the reporter was told that they have been transferred to SARS for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the residents of Ejigbo were happy over the arrest of the suspects who they said have been terrorising the residents.
