The Orashi National Congress (ONC), under the able leadership of its President General, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely and strategic intervention in reconciling the political rift between the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, and members of the State House of Assembly.
In a press statement released in Port Harcourt, the ONC described the reconciliation as “a commendable and welcome development that has brought renewed hope for democratic stability and good governance in Rivers State”.
According to Amb. Emeni Ibe, the move by President Tinubu is not only statesmanlike but also necessary to preserve the unity, peace, and democratic processes in the state, which have recently been threatened by prolonged political tensions.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the wisdom and leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in fostering peace among key political actors in Rivers State. This reconciliatory initiative has rekindled the people’s hope in governance and restored confidence in the democratic institutions of our dear state,” he said.
The ONC further called on all political leaders and stakeholders in Rivers State to place the interest of the people above personal or party ambitions, and to work together for the advancement of the state and the development of the Orashi region in particular.
“We urge Governor Fubara, Chief Wike, and the lawmakers to build on this renewed peace to deliver quality governance, protect the mandate of the people, and ensure inclusive development across all communities,” Amb. Ibe added.
The Congress reiterated its commitment to promoting unity, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence across the Orashi region and the entire state, emphasizing that political stability remains a prerequisite for meaningful development and the well-being of citizens.
