Viewers on DStv and GOtv enjoyed another great weekend of football action, with the continuation of the 2019/20 Premier League, La Liga and Serie A campaigns.

In the Premier League, Mohamed Salah scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot as Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Anfield to retain their six-point lead at the top of the table.

Wilfred Ndidi starred in midfield for Leicester City as they equalled the Premier League‘s record for biggest-ever win, thrashing 10-man Southampton 9-0 at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday night, while Jordan Ayew scored the equaliser for Crystal Palace as they held Arsenal 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

In La Liga, Karl Toko Ekambi was a star for Villarreal, scoring two goals to help the ‘Yellow Submarine’ claim a 4-1 home win over Deportivo Alaves.

Mohamed Salisu was on the score sheet for Real Valladolid as they beat Eibar 2-0, Thomas Partey helped Atletico Madrid defeat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 to move to within a point of the top of the table, and Spain’s new leaders are Granada, following a 1-0 win over Real Betis in which Nigerian Ramon Azeez featured strongly.

Neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid were in action over the weekend, with their La Liga ‘El Clasico’ showdown postponed to a later date.

In Serie A, Gervinho stung one of the league’s heavyweights as he scored for Parma in their 2-2 draw with Internazionale. The result prevented the Nerrazzuri from taking advantage of leaders Juventus’ earlier 1-1 draw with Khouma Babacar’s Lecce.

SuperSport viewers also saw Christian Kouame net for Genoa in a much-needed 3-1 home win over Brescia, Amad Diallo Traore scored the final goal for Atalanta in their 7-1 destruction of Udinese, and the duo of Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer could not prevent Milan slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Roma.
