We’re Solidly Behind Gov Fubara, Prof Odu & Rt. Hon. Ehie – Orashi National Congress Says

Posted on December 17, 2023

The mouthpiece of the Orashi people, Orashi National Congress (ONC), has stated that they are strongly behind the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Deputy Governor, Prof Ngozi Odu and the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Edison Ehie.
Addressing a press conference at Ahoada on Saturday 16th December, 2023, Orashi National Congress led by the President General, Most Snr. Comrade Emeni Ibe, used the opportunity to touch on current developments in Rivers State. The ONC highlighted that peace and security are indispensable ingredients for development. The group condemned in very strong terms all acts of political aggression and violence.
“We call on all political actors in Rivers State to embrace peace and employ dialogue in the resolution of differences. We also call for an end to the killing of security operatives in the Orashi region.”
“We wish to categorically state that we support all actions taken by the Executive Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, including and not limited to the demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex with the intention to erect a better edifice for effective legislative deliberations.”
“We respect and acknowledge His Excellency Barr. Nyesom Wike as a political leader. But we advise that at this point, he should deploy his drive and passion to the tasks of his current office as Honourable Minister of the FCT.”
“We therefore, state that our support is 100% intact for Governor Siminalayi Fubara not minding the resignation by some members of the Rivers Executive Council.
We equally call on our Elders, revered traditional rulers and respected political actors to lend support to our Executive Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.”
“At ONC, we charge our representatives both at the House of Representatives and House of Assembly to always consult with the people and not hastily substitute general desires and aspirations of the people with personal persuasions.
We also use this medium to invite our representatives at the National and State Assembly to interact with Orashi people at the proposed Orashi Town Hall meetings in order to determine development priorities for the purpose of material inputs.”
“We hereby pass a vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. We also call on the governor to abide by the Oath of Office and heal the toxicity and divisiveness across the state.”
“We commend the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, for the much he has done concerning security since assuming duties in the state. We charge him to be neutral and professional in all dealings.”
“At this juncture, we wish to state unambiguously that we will resist any attempt to undermine our leaders, Prof Ngozi Odu and Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, with undue pressures or distractions because of their unflinching support for the governor, Siminalayi Fubara” the ONC concluded.
